World Health Organization warns of possible tuberculosis surge because of USAID cuts

Health officials are focusing on the Trump administration’s growing result of a growing US agency’s gating for international development: the threat of tuberculosis issues and global increases in death.

The World Health Organization warned last week that the rapid decline in funds could endanger millions of lives, as many countries rely on foreign aid for TB prevention, testing and treatment.

“Without immediate action, there is a danger of severe success in the fight against TB,” said Dr. Terza Kasifa, director of the WHO’s World Program on TB and lung health.
