Ukraine has targeted Moscow overnight drone attacks because the Russian Defense Ministry says it has shot 337 unmanned aircraft across the country.
“The Defense Ministry’s air defense repels a massive attack on enemy drones on Moscow,” Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobianin said on the telegram on Tuesday morning.
According to Governor Andrey Worobev, three people were reported killed and three were reported in the southern suburbs of Moscow.
He added that the drone debris damaged at least seven units in another residential building in another suburbs of the city.
Attack on the Russian capital, hundreds of kilometers from the Ukrainian border, took place ahead of a meeting between US and Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia.
Ukraine has to offer a plan for a partial ceasefire with Russia because it hopes its largest military aid provider will restore support.
President Donald Trump, who launched a unilateral dialogue with the Kremlin last month, called on Kai to give concessions to end the war, which began three years ago when Russia invaded the country and later tried to affiliate with four of its regions.
The talks in Saudi Arabia will be the most senior after the devastating meeting of the White House last month when Trump targeted Ukrainian President Wolodmeer Zelannsky, who was accused of being offensive and demanded that he deal with Russia.
Washington has since suspended access to military aid, intelligence sharing and satellite imagery for Kiev to force him to the negotiating table.
A Ukrainian official said that the drone strike on Tuesday should be encouraged to accept Kiev’s proposal to present Russian President Vladimir Putin in Saudi Arabia.
“The biggest drone attack in history was carried out in the Moscow and Moscow region,” said Andrey Coolloinco, a national security and defense council official. “This is an additional indication for Putin that he should also be interested in ceasefire in the air.”
