Three other children survived. Doda said open investigation was being conducted by the police department.

“It must be to be [investigated]”Doda said. “I don’t think anyone really wants to think about this with the passing of both children, but the fact is that the situation has to be examined. We have to know how to go ahead.

Doda said the situation is tragic, especially as a father. “I just can’t imagine what the family is feeling,” he said.

Doda urged people to take advantage of resources such as shelters, churches or other facilities kept for help. He also said that those who see others in need during the cold should call 911.
