Turkey was being led by a fourth straight protest at the end of Saturday, as the country has seen the biggest road unrest in more than a decade over the arrest of Istanbul’s mayor Akim Amoglo.
Officials said 343 people have been arrested in the demonstrations, who have seen hundreds of thousands of people hit the streets in Turkey’s largest cities.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s main rival, Amloglo, was interrogated by the police today and the reason was to appear before the prosecutors later.
He was arrested on Wednesday, before he was formally nominated for the Opposition Central CHP candidate for the 2028 presidential race.
Subsequently, the riot police have repeatedly clashed with the protesters, deploying tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannons against them in the capital Ankara and the western coastal city of Istanbul.
The demonstrations have spread to more than 50 of the 81 provinces of Turkey, with Diyarbakar, the majority of the Kurds, is expected to attend Saturday’s rallies with the central city of Diyarbakar in the southeast of the Kurds.
Today, his renewed protest was expected in 1730 GMT, despite his ban and Erdogan’s warning that Turkish authorities would not tolerate “street terrorism”.
Police interviewed Istanbul Mayor for five hours in connection with the “terrorism” investigation. A source at the City Hall said he was to be present in front of prosecutors at the Kagalian Court House in 1630 GMT.
Already nominated in the growing list of legal investigations, Amoglo-who was re-elected last year, has been accused of “helping and denying a terrorist organization”, namely the prohibited Kurdish PKK.
He is also investigating “bribery, extortion, corruption, angry fraud, and illegal data for profit as part of a criminal organization”.
Hours before its appearance, officials announced that they were sealing on the main roads leading to the court.
‘No explanation’
“Mr Amoglov denies all the allegations against him,” said one of his lawyer Mehmet Fiman, who was questioned on Friday for six hours on the graft charges by the police.
A Massage Sent by his lawyers on X, Amogloo said that he was the “honor and pride” of the protesters who were protecting “our Republic, our democracy, the future of a justice Turkish, and the will of our nation”.
During the past one year, the supporters of the supporters of the opposition have removed 10 of their elected mayors, and instead the government’s appointed trustees have also thrown their support behind the protest.

Addressing a crowd outside the City Hall late on Friday, CHP leader Ozgur Ozil said 300,000 people had joined the demonstration that night.
Hours ago, Erdogan shot a warning on Ozil’s bows, which was accused of “serious responsibility”, and increased the possibility that the CHP leader may also face legal approval.
“People who incite our citizens and confront our security forces because of them are making clear crime,” Is written Istanbul Governor Davut Gul said on X today.
The move against Amoglo has hurt Turkish lira and financial markets, with the stock exchange’s Best 100 index decreasing by about eight percent on Friday.
