Trump orders release of JFK, MLK assassination documents

US President Donald Trump has ordered the declassification of documents related to three of the most consequential assassinations in American history – the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr.

“A lot of people have been waiting for this, for a long time, for decades,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday. “Everything will come out.”

President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963. His brother Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated while running for president in 1968, just two months after King, America’s most famous civil rights leader, was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee.

Many documents related to the investigation have been released in the years since, though thousands are still redacted, especially those related to JFK.
