In a memo by Reuters, Acting Deputy Attorney General Emal Boo told the US Attorney’s Office in Manhattan, who brought allegations to reject the allegations soon.
Boo writes that in September 2024, Adams’ crime misrepresented his 2025 mayor’s re -election campaign. For dismissing, Adams will have to sign an agreement whose accusations can be re -emerged in the future, Boo said.
Manhattan US Attorney’s Office spokesman Nicholas Base refused to comment. Adams’ lawyer Alex Spiro did not immediately respond to the request for comment.
Judicial Records said Monday evening that the prosecution has not yet indicated the judge who oversees the case to oversee the matter, that he plans to quit the case.
In September, Adams were charged with five counts, accusing Turkish officials of accepting political donations by foreigners in exchange for taking steps to benefit Turkey.
Adams requested not to be guilty. The New York City Mayor’s race is scheduled to begin on April 21 before the Democratic Primary in June. Adams face several primary challenges.
Adams, 64, has argued that it has been unfairly targeted by the Biden administration because he has criticized his immigration policy.
Both Adams and Biden are Democrats. When he was a close ally, in 2022, Adams called on Washington to raise funds for the largest US city to deal with the influx of immigrants.
The allegations were brought in September under the former Manhattan American Attorney Damien Williams, appointed by Biden.
Trump, a Republican, has expressed sympathy with Adams. In December, before its inauguration, Trump said he would consider forgiveness of the mayor. The president is cracking against illegal immigration and increasing deportation.
