On Wednesday, March 18, 1925, a devastating weather event, especially three states, eliminated Illinois. Which is called Great cum storm Southeast touched in Missouri and remained on the ground constantly – first in the corner of the state, then crossing the southern Illinois, before it was dispersed in southwestern Indiana.
On this March, only more than a thousand people were killed. The towns, fields and schools were equal. The Twistter estimated the track of the Qatar nearly one mile in the ground. There is nothing to deny it.
When I learned about the trilateral storm for the first time in the early 1990s, it attracted both my attention and imagination, as the scientific community warned that sudden, violent weather events would become more common due to global heat. As a result, I came to use this horrific event as my initial point to understand such severe weather events.
For example, remember the 2011 Japalin, Missouri Storm Destructive They city, or violent, multi -faceted, Massive storms spreading From March 31 to April 1, 2023. As in 1925, Illinois was severely affected.
Although my academic background is in American literature and generally humanity, I focus on science -based issues. In this way, I have never doubted science claims about global warming. And I’m definitely not denying, such as our Chief, Donald Trump.
However, I hope, on the hopeful claims that global warming can be overturned. Unfortunately, this is a process that began centuries ago at the beginning of the industrial revolution, and its active agents were fossil fuel: coal, petroleum and natural gas.
If non -refundable, will we not do anything again? Not at all, as I believe – hope – we can reduce the negative effects of global warming. We must greatly reduce our seemingly unpredictable appetite for energy. We should go away from foam fuel (no “drill, bibi, drill!”), And we must embrace the future of electricity, even if it means to increase our use of nuclear energy (but a thoughtful plan about the long -term storage of nuclear waste).
Put pressure on the Congress to stand up
However, we need to make wise decisions, we need correct, detailed scientific information. Trump has denied global warming by trying to deny the public, the public. However, the purpose of many of their risks and measures was to cut staff and freeze funds for science-related agencies, the preliminary executive orders of the social safety net, such as social security, medical, medical, medical, medical-maped-up: National Oceanographic and Environmental Services, Environmental, and Environmental Services.
I was not surprised at his actions, as Trump created the 2024 campaign for the counter, antibaches, anti -intelligence crowds, as he did in 2016. On the other hand, I am surprised, to some extent, as we live in a civilization affected by science. Science is more flying if it wants corporate the United States and it wants to build data centers and promote artificial intelligence. When it comes to the needs of all of us, then science – as it fears weather events, global warming, or environmental collapse – this is a fraud, a scam.
What can we do? Instead of march or demonstrations (which make only 30 seconds on Syria news, or for a picture in 500 words and in newspapers), regardless of the party, follow your Congress members, and request them to fight Trump through legislative proceedings. If they are human, remind them of the midterm elections of 2026. Keeping in mind 2026, go to the police equipped with information about where and where they come about their war against Trump and Science, as well as their war against the social safety net. Send its Lockies packing!
And then in 2028, Trump, Vice President JD Venus, and Elon Musk send it to the political ambiguity.
Until then, we need to keep our eyes in the sky, listen to the siren, and cover the duck and the flying debris. Under Trump for the next four years, generally, good advice.
