The Baloch Liberation Army emerged as the key culprit of terrorist attacks in Pakistan in 2024.
Rescue operations continued on Wednesday to release several hostages by terrorists hijacked by Jaffar Express train near Bolan District in Balochistan, a day after the criminals took more than 400 people hostage, including several security personnel.
The train from Quetta to Peshawar was located around 1pm yesterday between a cheese and Pashi railway stations, near the railway tunnel number 8, near Mashkif. According to reports, the assailants martyred several security personnel and hijacked the train. He then started examining the identity of the passengers and took some of them hostage.
Although the area is obstructed due to the remote, security forces said they have launched a massive operation to save the hostages. So far, 190 passengers have been rescued, according to the latest update of the official run Radio Pakistan. It added that 30 terrorists were killed by security forces, while operations are underway to eliminate the remaining attackers.
The total number of casualties was not confirmed, but officials said at least 10 people – including the driver of the locomoto and eight security personnel – lost their lives in the gun fighting.
The attack was claimed by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a ban, a militant nationalist organization whose attacks have fallen sharply in recent years. And when it emerged as an important culprit of terrorist attacks last year, the train hijacking on Tuesday is the first time that a terrorist group has used the tactic.
According to the Pakistan Security report, in total, the BLA attack in 2024 caused 225 deaths. The report added that attacks by various illegal Baloch insurgent groups, mainly BLA and Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF), increased by 119 %, including 171 incidents in Balochistan.

January 30, 2024: The BLA launched three coordinated attacks using rockets and sophisticated weapons in Mach, Balochistan, which is located 70 km from Quetta’s provincial capital.
Police said at least 15 rockets were fired from the nearby mountains, which landed in different areas of Mitch and exploded. Terrorists also attacked a security camp near the Central Jail and entered the city’s railway station. In the nearby Kolpur areas, a hotel and six shops were targeted and a fire broke out.
The army said that during a gun fight between security forces and the attackers – which lasted for about three days – 24 terrorists were killed. Four law enforcement personnel and two civilians were also martyred in the attack.
March 20, 2024: A group of eight terrorists, belonging to a professional BLA, tried to force Gwadar Port Authority Colony and fired. Several blasts were also reported in the attack.
According to a statement from the Inter Services public relations, all eight terrorists were killed in a fire exchanged with the army, while two soldiers accepted the martyrdom.
The colony, where the attack took place, has been hosted by several government and paramilitary offices. This facility is also a multi -billion dollar China -Pakistan Economic Transit (CPEC) center.

May 10, 2024: Seven laborers from Punjab were killed in a coastal town of Sarbanda, east of Gwadar. The victims, who worked at local barber shops, were living in a rented residential quarter when unknown assailants entered the site and opened fire.
Following the murder, the Balochistan government announced the arrest of two suspects, the Anti -Terrorism Department says both are affiliated with the BLA.
June 23, 2024: Armed militants belonging to a BLA kidnapped at least 14 people from a picnic place in Zargon area of Harnai district. The pickers were abducted after the identity check was separated from the crowd.
According to Lewis Force personnel, militants took positions on the nearby hills. They released four people in the area and later left their car.
June 27, 2024: More than 50 militants attacked the Frontier Corps (FC) check post in Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) oil and gas exploration site in Klat district of Balochistan, killing two security personnel.
Officials said all 20 gunmen wanted to take the post hostage, but their efforts were foiled as additional soldiers were immediately dispatched to the site. He added that the militants first attacked the FC camp in Khalqabad district of Kalat district and fired rockets.
A BLA spokesman claimed responsibility for the attack.
August 13, 2024: The Deputy Commissioner of Panjur was killed in an attack on his vehicle on Quetta-Karachi National Highway near Masting. DC Zakir Hussain Baloch was going to Quetta with the chairman of the Panjgur Municipal Committee when unknown assailants opened fire.
According to security officials, at least 15 armed men stopped the road and were checking vehicles passing through the area. He tried to stop the deputy commissioner’s vehicle and fired when it had passed.
The Balochistan government said intelligence information and evidence indicated that the BLA was behind the attack.
August 26-27, 2024: Balochistan saw a very violent day in its tumultuous history. At least 50 people, including 14 security men, lost their lives in different parts of the province as dozens of NBA militants went on a riot. Stormy police stations, blow up railway tracks, and set fire to about three dozen vehicles.
The militants launched several attacks, targeting security personnel as well as civilians, especially those who belong to Punjab. They attacked a paramilitary camp, police stations, imposed on the stations, and stopped key roads, including the coastal highway. October 7, 2024: Two workers were killed and eight were injured in a Chinese convoy outside a Karachi airport on a Chinese convoy last night. The attack took place with the help of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which was hosted by Islamabad.
The attack was claimed by the BLA.
October 30, 2024: BLA militants killed five private security guards stationed at a dam construction site in Panjgur district of Makran Division.
Officials said the victims were hired for security duty at the dam site in the Promot area of Panjgur. He added that the attackers, equipped with automatic weapons, arrived at the site on motorcycles and attacked the dam site where the victims were guarding the machinery.
9 November, 2024: At least 26 people, including 16 security personnel, were killed after a suicide bombing by a railway station in Quetta. More than 60 people were injured.
Officials said the attacker arrived as a passenger carrying a bag, went into the crowd and exploded in the bombing, killing and injuring nearly 100 people. He added that the main target of the bomber was a security personnel on the platform.
The banned BLA claimed responsibility for the blast, which said that its deadly guerrilla cell was attacked by Majid Brigade.
November 17, 2024: Seven security personnel were martyred and 18 others were injured in a BLA Architerate attack on a check post in Kalat area of Johan. In its statement, the army said it killed six terrorists and injured four others.
The ISPR said the terrorists used rockets, hand grenades and automatic heavy weapons before the Frontier Corps (FC) ‘Shah Mardan check post was hit.
January 5, 2025: At least six people, including five FC personnel, were martyred and 35 others, including children, were injured when a car loaded with an explosive luggage was injured in a collision with a coach]in the area of 24 catches.
According to reports, when the coach arrived in the area of New Behman, in the outskirts of the turbat, the explosive -laden vehicle collided with a coach, after which he opened fire.
Accepting responsibility for the attack on the coach, the BLA, who was banned from FC personnel from Karachi, said its Majid Brigade carried out the blast.
January 9, 2025: BLA militants attacked a bastard on the main market in Zahri district of Khwaja, which caused several government buildings to fire, including the offices of the Levies Force Station, Nadra and Municipal Committee and a bank.

February 1, 2025: At least 18 soldiers were killed in a rebel attack overnight in Kalat district of Balochistan.
A military statement said the killings occurred when the “terrorists tried to set up a road block” in the area, and security forces immediately responded. It added that 12 terrorists were killed in the upcoming gun fights. The attack was claimed by the BLA.
February 19, 2025: Unidentified gunmen killed seven people traveling to Punjab after offloading a passenger bus in Barkhan district of Balochistan. According to officials, a group of around 40 armed men stopped several buses and other vehicles near Rakhni on Rocker Dera Ghazi Khan highway.
After removing the passengers from the coach, the gunmen opened fire and killed them on the spot. The attackers managed to escape.
The attack, which follows a familiar model, claimed by the BLA.
March 3, 2025: A Frontier Corps personnel were martyred and four others were injured in a suicide attack by a female bomber on a convoy in Balochistan. The incident took place on the national highway near the Mughalsi area.
The attack was claimed by a lesser -known faction of the Balochistan Liberation Army, known as BLA Azad, in a message sent to journalists.
