Lucky Marwat / Quetta: Army media wing said Tuesday that three terrorists were killed and nine were injured in an intelligence operation in Jenkhel town in Bono district.
In a statement, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the operation was launched after reports of the presence of ‘Khawarij’ (a official term used for a official term) in the area. It added that security forces effectively engaged the place, neutralized three terrorists and injured nine others in exchange for fire.
The ISPR said a clean operation was underway to eliminate any other militants, in which security forces are committed to eliminating terrorism from the country.
Earlier, a border constable soldier was martyred when militants late Monday night attacked an FC post in the Barn Dam area of Banu district.
An official source confirmed the attack, saying the attackers used both light and heavy weapons in an attempt to violate the position. FC personnel effectively engaged the attackers, and the fire exchange continued for some time.
Sources said the successful retaliation of FC personnel forced the attackers to escape. During the gun war, five FC personnel were injured and shifted to the hospital.
Two soldiers were martyred
Meanwhile, two soldiers were martyred and five terrorists, including two suicide bombers, were killed in a heavy gun battle between security forces and Khorej, Frontier Corps security in Gulistan area of Balochistan district. The check post was killed during an armed attack. The ISPR said Tuesday that Afghanistan is connected.
In a statement, the ISPR said that during the night of January 27-28, the Khawarij tried to attack a security post in the general area of Gulistan of Qila Abdullah. However, he added, the effort was thwarted by Pakistani soldiers, which forced the terrorists to go to a vehicle equipped with explosives in the wall of the post.
The statement said that five terrorists, including two suicide bombers, were neutralized.
During the intense exchange of fire, two soldiers – Naik Tahir Khan (age 39 years, a tank district resident) and Lance Naik Tahir Iqbal (Omar 26, a resident of District) sacrificed their lives.
Levies Official shot dead
In a separate incident, police said on Tuesday that unidentified gunmen shot and killed a Levi Force official in the Kalatak Bazaar area of the tribute.
Levies personnel, identified as Ghulam Jan, were targeted while he was going home. He suffered numerous bullet injuries and died on the spot.
Police said it looks like a target murder. No group has claimed responsibility for the murder.
