Australian residents are selecting Southeast Asia in Europe in 2025, with destinations such as Thailand and Vietnam, it is expected to expect a 42 percent increase.

A new report by Travel Insurance.com revealed a significant change in Australian travel trends, with Southeast Asia being expected in 2025 international visits. Statistics show a significant decline in interest in European destinations, as Australians prefer proximity and value during long travel.

Destiny, such as Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia, has been designed to see a 42 % significant increase in Australian visitors this year, while in Southeast Asia, a total of four million Australian tourists are expected to attract. Traveling in the region began when Australian passengers seek cheap options that offer both convenience and value.

Commenting on the shift, Sean McGowen, CEO of Travel Insurance.com, said, “Auspoint passengers are looking for a better price of their money, avoiding long -distance expensive flights to Europe or the United States. They prefer to minimize less time than work and to avoid jet break and high costs.

The ongoing trend of revenge journey, where Australian people are ready for lost travel opportunities during epidemic diseases, have played an important role in this new perspective. However, McGhone noted that today’s passengers are becoming more conscious of the budget and are choosing nearly home to reduce flight costs and travel time.

Although popularity in Southeast Asia is facing an impressive increase, East Asia is a dominant region for Australian travelers. Countries such as China, Hong Kong and Japan are likely to experience the highest growth in Australian arrival in 2025.

On the contrary, European travel is expected to be gradually demonstrated. Although France traveling Australians may see an increase of up to 14 %, and the UK may increase by 12 %, the overall growth of European arrival is compared to Southeast Asia.

Overall, Australians are expected to launch 12.6 million overseas trips in 2025. However, if travel trends continued in the past, that number would exceed 14 million, which cites the examples of changing priorities on the Australian tourism scenario and the ongoing impact of travel costs.
