Under the Belt of Obran Tigers, two official national championships are known for their unique football records. Everyone recognizes these seasons, but a season that is not usually underway is 1993. In the season of 93, Abbin was unbeaten with a record of 11-0.
This season is usually shaded by the “Eric Ramsey Scandal”, in which former Defense Back Eric Ramsey recorded his conversation with the boats and coaches. At that time, Ramsey recorded and released 22 micro -cassette tape. Ramsey released the tape in ’91, which led to a two -year long investigation.
These tapes revealed that Ramsey was getting paid from boosters and coaches to play for Uber. The tapes also revealed the alleged separation of the football team in athletic housing and the dislike of the coaches from the ethnic couple.
With the lighting on the tapes, the investigation was launched by the NCAA. After the end of the investigation, it was found that institutional control, moral behavior and compliance certification were all broken by the Abbron staff.
After this probation, which was banned from TV, the scholarship was reduced and there was a ban after the season, which prevented the Tigers from playing the SEC Championship and Bowl Game. This discovery was also a catalyst that caused Pat Dai to resign from Abbin.
The probation period continued for two years. Nevertheless, NCAA announces Tigers to be the national champion with three other teams: Florida State, Nebraska and Notre Dam.
Although this season is viewed negatively, this season team players do not pay any attention to their achievements. The former tough end for the Tigers, Andy Filler, makes happiness in his time in Abern – especially for the 1993 team.
Throughout his college career, Filler caught 573 yards and 54 passes in 28 touchdowns. On defense, it had 95 tricks and 15.5 sacks for an average of 88 yards. However, most of its 1993 stats have lost due to scandal and probation.
After his graduation in 1995, the filler looked at the professional game. Entering the NFL Draft and known inadvertently but signed as a free agent for Miami Dolphins in ’96, ‘977, playing for Filler Barcelona Dragons, NFL went to Europe.
Once the NFL was finished, Filler returned home in Huntsville, Alabama, where he was added to the Hunts Wheel Sports Hall of Fame. Currently, filler coaches for ALBAMA A&M and believe that the scandal and the probation team are so powerful.
