Sunday’s accident is following a recent aviation accident that has raised public concern. In late January, an American airline plane collided with a US military helicopter on the Potomac River in Washington DC, killing all 67 people on both planes.
National Transportation Safety Board officials are still investigating the Washington accident as well as a medical jet accident in Philadelphia. In January, seven people were killed in Alaska in February and 10 people were killed in a plane crash.
Among the growing concerns, Google searches have increased to “safely”.
A recent APNORC survey released in February states that 64 % of US air travel is very safe or somewhat safe, which is less than 71 % last year.
