Students’ loans are no longer handled by the Department of Education, Trump’s orders
President Trump ordered students’ loans outside the education department. It has asked the small business administration to manage it.
The US government agency, which provides and provides assistance to millions of small businesses all over the United States, which the country’s economy’s engine room said on Friday that it would eliminate 40 % of its staff.
The Small Business Administration announced that it would eliminate about 2,700 jobs, as the Trump administration keeps cleaning the federal manpower and calling for the US government to reduce the size and cost.
The SBA, which provides resources for small businesses all over the United States, said in a statement that reducing its manpower by 43 % was part of the reforms that aimed to “eliminate the widespread social policy agenda of the advanced administration, eliminate unnecessary roles, and to return to pre -affected staff.”
On the same day, President Donald Trump gave the agency more responsibility, the same day the cuts were announced, reporters at the Oval Office were told that the SBA department would take over the Federal Student Loan Portfolio, which the president wanted to close.
Trump gave all federal agencies a massive -scale plans for a second wave by March 13 as they are trying to reproduce the federal government, which they and their cost have been declared by Elon Musk, and defective.
White House officials are now reviewing the plans for the reduction, with the move to expect a massive firing of thousands of government workers in the coming weeks, two sources in the matter told Reuters on Thursday.
In addition to shrinking agencies, the performance of Trump and Musk’s department is also trying to access their collection of sensitive personal information, but the courts have been thwarted at various places.
At the end of Thursday, Trump signed an executive order that allows the heads of the agency to access data, non -class records and software and IT systems to the federal officials appointed by the president or agency leadership.
The executive order states that the purpose of this directive is to enable the administration to achieve “waste, fraud and abuse priorities and to eliminate them.”
Social protection data concerns
On Thursday, a federal judge said that the Social Security Administration has violated the laws of confidentiality by giving millions of Americans data to Musk’s assistants, and ordered further record sharing.
In response, the acting head of SSA Lelland Dodak, who is cooperating with the Dodge, said the order to block the agency’s system was so broad that it could be applied to all staff. “They will eliminate access to our IT system through all SSA employees,” said Dodake, according to Bloomberg. Dodak said he would ask the judge to clarify his order.
According to two sources in the system, on Friday, the afternoon employees still had access to the SSA database. The SSA manages benefits for tens of millions of older Americans and disabled.
One of the sources told Reuters that temporarily preventing access to the SSA database could also prevent millions of Americans from the benefits of social security that rely on it.
It was asked to comment on Friday, the SSA said in an email, “We have received a judicial order and we will obey it.”
