The situation in Quetta returned to normal on Sunday-one day after the closure of the januity-while in some cities of Balochistan, a shutter down strike continued another day in response to the Baloch Solidarity Committee (BEC) call, which demanded the release of its leadership.

In a statement yesterday, Shafqat denied the claim that police had shot dead three people during the BEC Quetta sit -in. The Commissioner said that the BEC launched a protest on March 21 demanding the recovery of the bodies of those killed during the Jaffar Express operation.
However, the protests were rapidly violent as bike protesters and their armed colleagues allegedly resorted to stone excavation, indiscriminate firing, and attacks on law enforcement personnel. During the unrest, three people lost their lives due to the alleged firing by “armed elements with bike leadership”.
“Citizens and police emphasized that the bodies of the dead need a test to detect the actual conditions of their deaths. Despite knowing that the three – one of whom was an Afghan citizen – was killed by their own comrades, the BEC leadership refused to hand over the bodies.
