According to a party statement, a PTI rally organized by PTI on Sunday met “resistance” when it made its way to the shrine.
According to a statement issued by party spokesman Mohammad Ali Bozdar, the rally was chaired by PTI Sindh President Helim Adil Sheikh, Karachi President Raja Azhar, General Secretary Arsalan Khalid, and other party leaders.
The demonstration, which began with the Empress Market, was about to reach the shrine-queries. “However, law enforcement officials have hindered several places in an attempt to disrupt March,” the statement said.
The party alleged that “heavy police deployment was observed around the press club, while in the shrine, officials allegedly used force to disperse the participants, which resulted in the handling of several PTI workers.”
Condemning the police action, Halim Adil Sheikh has been quoted as saying, “We are patriotic Pakistani, yet we have been prevented from celebrating Pakistan Day. We are carrying national flags, not weapons.”
He alleged that the Sindh government was operating under a “dictatorship” led by PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, alleging that police were focusing on suppressing PTI rather than stopping street crimes in Karachi.
Raja Azhar also condemned the crackdown and questioned, “As Pakistani citizens, do we not have the right to celebrate Pakistan Day?”
In a statement, he claimed that Bilal’s “illegal government” was nearing its end and had predicted the abolition of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in Sindh.
The statement said that during the rally, the participants hoisted both the Pakistani and PTI flags, while the release of Imran Khan and the government’s policies shouted slogans.
When contacted, South Deputy Inspector General of Police Asad Raza said Don Dot Com The police surrounded the Karachi Press Club for parking buses on Sarwar Shaheed Road and parking with others and setting up temporary obstacles.
