President Zardari urges need to win ‘war against terrorism’ during Quetta visit – Pakistan

President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday emphasized the need to win a “war on terror” at all costs during a visit to Quetta during the security environment in Balochistan.

A PPP statement said that President Zardari arrived in Quetta on a one -day visit to review the situation of the provincial law and order. He later attended a briefing on law and order in the province.

In a statement released about the discussion of the meeting, the president quoted: “Terrorists will be defeated at all costs.

The statement states that President Zardari promised to provide modern weapons to the counter -terrorism forces and expressed his desire for development and lasting peace in Balochistan.

The President said, “Balochistan is close to my heart,” he added that he wants “see every child of Balochistan at school”.

“It is time to illuminate children with modern technology.”

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari was also part of the meeting in which Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti and provincial ministers attended.

A day earlier, the Parliamentary Committee on National Security emphasized the urgent need for the implementation of the Anti-Terrorism Framework-National Action Plan and the Vision Eismat-Istakum to prevent terrorism, as Army Chief General Asim Munir called for a ruling on the rise of terrorism.

The Communican also emphasized the need for unity and political commitment to face the threat of terrorism with full force of the state, which called for a national consensus in the fight against terrorism.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif called for a national unity and dialogue against the threat of terrorism in the country on a visit to Quetta last week after the attack.
