Petro cursed his cabinet on State TV last week, saying the government was performing less.
President Gustao Petro has indicated official chaos as he has demanded that the entire cabinet should resign.
The President on Sunday demanded that ministers and other senior officials be retired. After Petro had cursed his team directly on television, the move came between the growing tensions, while some members of the government have condemned the recent appointments.
Petro wrote on the social media platform X, “There will be some changes to the cabinet for maximum compliance with people’s program.”
Shortly afterwards, Labor Minister Gloria Ramirz announced his resignation on social media platform X.
“Politics should move forward without sectarianism and without confusion,” he said.
Tension of building
Petro has created tensions within the government within weeks after the appointment of some new ministers.
Some people in the cabinet protested, expressing dislike over the appointment of former Chief of Staff Laura Sarabia, who was affected by the petro -scandal, as Foreign Minister.
The appointment came last month when Petro engaged US President Donald Trump in connection with migrant exile flights.
Sarbia has been involved in a corruption investigation and was also allegedly involved in the case of illegal wire tapping.
The tension increased only when Petro had been subject to a five -hour public dressing down on state TV last week.
He accused several officials, including his trade, education and ministers, lagging behind the provision of key projects.
‘Wrong stories’
Just before the president’s demand for leaving the cabinet, Susana Mohammed withdrew from the office of the Minister of Environment, referring to the opposition to the appointment of Armando Bendity in the cabinet.
Several other ministers have also complained about the appointment, in which Bendity is facing allegations of violence and influence against women.
Bendity, one of the leading petro, has said that false stories are being told about them.
In addition to the Labor Minister and the Minister of Environment, Minister of Culture Joan David Korea and the head of the state agency Dapri, George Rosas, who manages a large quantity of state funds, has also resigned during the ongoing crisis.
