Panama says US ‘spreading lies’ over free canal passage

The Panama Canal is a 51 mile (82 km) passing route, which connects the Ocean and the Ocean of the Pacific to the Central American country.

To cross the waterway, on the basis of size and type, all utensils need to pay fees but American ships are priority to pass.

In a post on the X on Wednesday, the State Department wrote: “US government ships can now move the Panama Canal without any fees, which can save the US government millions of dollars a year.”

Milano reacted to the statement saying that he “rejects this method of handling bilateral relations on the basis of lies and lies.”

He said he told his ambassador to Washington to take “strong steps” to reject the claim, calling it “straight and clearly unbearable”.

Milano added that US government ships, including naval ships, paid “$ 6-7m” [£4.8-5.6m] One year “for the right to pass.

He added, “It is not as if the canal tools are breaking the United States economy.”

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) also made a statement stating that it had “no adjustment” in the tools, adding that it was open to establishing the dialogue.

After the meeting with Rubio and Milno, Panama announced that it would not renew the membership of China’s infrastructure building program, known as the Belt and the Road Initiative.

Rubio welcomed the move, calling it “a great step forward”, though Panama denied that the decision was made at the US request.

Trump has expressed concern that China can close the canal to the United States in the event of a crisis.

On Wednesday, China’s Foreign Affairs spokesman, Lin Jian, said its partnership with Panama was getting “fruitful results” and urged the country to “resist” external intervention.
