The RCMP has recently released details of three incidents with Canadian US border officers in recent weeks. In these incidents, 16 border crossing and one death were tried.
Police organized a news conference in Edmonton on Wednesday to provide information about two border crossing in Cotus, Ulta earlier this week, and a week ago a crossing 15 km east of Emerson, Main.
On Tuesday morning, a man crossing the border was sent to a secondary inspection area, where he fled. Police said when the driver was located near Raymond, Alta, when about 80 80 km north of Quotes, he headed to the north side before returning to Raymond, where he was seen holding a gun.
The RCMP then used a tire deflation device to stop the man’s vehicle in the river, the south of the river, upside down, where the chase began closely. The man then fled on foot, where the police pursued him. During the pursuit, the man shot himself and was declared dead at the scene.
The response team is now investigating the incident, police said.
One day ago, on Monday morning, the RCMP was informed by the US Border Patrol about a possible crossing near the Cotus. Officers found a large group of people, four adults and five children, who were hiking in the cold weather. The nine men were arrested under the Customs Act and handed over to the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA).
Officers also discussed the crossing near Emerson, Main, on January 14, where the RCMP Border Patrol, equipped with thermal imaging, located a group of six people and instructed ground units.
Police searched a nearby forest on the ground where the group escaped and arrested them without any incident. The six men were handed over to the CBSA custody.
In this case, the police noted that people were not dressed in the cold weather, crossing the border.
In these three incidents, the RCMP said that the weather is between – -20 and-30 centigrade without calculating the cold.
Assistant Commissioner Lisa Morrland, Regional Commander of Federal Pleasing in the northwestern region, noted the threat posed by people crossing the border from the United States to Canada.
Morland said on Wednesday, “Whoever is thinking about crossing the border, don’t do so. You are endangering your life and you should not try in any case.”
