Apple, Pennsylvania (WPVI) – It is likely that the city, state and local officials will be part of the emergency hearing on the proposed closure of the cruiser Chester Medical Center and Taylor Hospital.
Emergency meeting is a last attempt to keep hospitals open in the Cruiser Health System.
Residents like Gregory Logan, who have survived cancer, are keeping a close eye on the situation.
He said, “I don’t like it, because after that we will not have to go anywhere to go. If something really happens here,” he said.
It is a serious fact that residents are facing, as Prosect Medical Holdings have announced plans to shut down the Delaware County’s largest health system. This includes cruiser Chester Medical Center, Taylor Hospital in Radley, and several other facilities.
“The next Truma Hospital is Lankio Hospital, so it is dangerous,” said Ridley Township’s Tamika Saway. “If someone is shot, it is like an EMS, do they save them or let them go? It’s very dangerous.”
Sunday’s meeting is an emergency hearing to find a final compromise. This comes when state and county officials gave $ 20 million to keep the hospital open.
Prip -ic Medical Holdings is a private California -based company that owns a cruiser health system.
The Attorney General’s office last year filed a lawsuit against the cruiser health system, accusing him of mismanagement and neglect.
Lawmakers are now focusing on their words, which they say is a problem for private companies to occupy hospitals, sell their assets and shut down them.
“Private health equity firms have purchased these health care companies, and they give them a profit in their pockets,” said Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.
“It’s just about money,” said Jamaar Soy, a resident of Radley Township. “It’s not about patients. This is a tragic part about it.”
If there is no solution, the hospital can be closed early in Friday.
The Delaware County Health Department has created a website where residential negotiations can remain the latest and seek resources. https://delcopa.gov/health/pages/prospectmedicalbankplactycyupdate.html
