NYC education-politics: Reaction after Columbia University agrees to Trump administration demands to restore federal funding

Morning Side Heights, Manhattan (WABC) – Columbia University has reacted to the Trump administration’s school after agreeing to the demands of a $ 400 million federal fund’s rehabilitation.

The agreement has come when the university has published a four -page memo titled “Discrimination, Harassment and Against Our Anti -Establishment” in Colombia, “who oppose the idea that the federal government should order the university’s educational affairs.

The White House’s demands include banning the mask for protest in Colombia, giving campus officers the authority to arrest and formalize the formal definition of hatred.

Colombia agreed on the changes when President Trump stopped the federal funds of hundreds of millions of dollars, the move is already affecting university researchers, who say their patients are unhappy.

“I’ve been listening to patients for the past few days, you know, what does that mean for me? You promised me that you are trying to reach the bottom of it, and now, I don’t know,” Dr. Ian Lipkin, who is the Center for Solutions for Solutions and Solutions – a Solutions.

The New York Civil Liberties Union issued a statement in response to a Colombian agreement with the Trump administration.

“By giving the Trump administration’s demands, Colombia has set a dangerous view that normalizes government intervention on educational independence and students,” said Donna Lieberman, executive director of the NYCLU. “Instead of standing for educational freedom, its basic mission, and its teachers and students, Colombia has fought the thugs. The law was towards Colombia, but the university has not given a slight public gesture of resistance.”

Meanwhile, a program has been planned for Saturday night in the New York Society for Ethical Culture on the detention of Colombian graduate student and Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil.

Khalil briefly appeared in a courtroom in Louisiana on Friday, as his defense team works to remove him from federal custody. The judge issued a continuation of Khalil’s immigration proceedings by April 8 to give lawyers more time to prepare.

The worker was detained by federal agents earlier this month. Khalil has a green card and he is a US resident.
