Journalist Núria Gispert has died at the age of 66. The former special correspondent for Canal Sur in Catalonia for several years has died from a tumour, as her colleague and friend Antonio Manfredi has said in an entry on his blog and as confirmed by the last channel she worked for.
Gispert, who was about a month away from retirement, fell ill “after returning from summer vacation” and the tumor “consumed her in a few weeks.” “She had already arranged everything to go and live in her house in the village, after years of fighting in the journalistic jungle ,” Manfredi explains in the text he dedicated to her after her loss.

As well as working for the Andalusian public channel, Gispert also worked for newspapers, magazines and radio. On the small screen, she presented ‘La tarde’ and ‘Buscados con cargo’ on Spanish television. From there, she ended up directing her professional career towards covering Catalan news, both for Canal Sur and TV3.
However, her professional career did not end with journalism. Gispert was also a writer and published some books on practical cooking. In fact, most of the content on her Instagram account is related to gastronomy. A discipline to which she dedicated her time in her charitable role, as she ran a Cáritas food bank to help the most disadvantaged.

“Núria Gispert nos ha dejado para siempre, víctima de un traicionero tumor que dio la cara al volver de las vacaciones de verano y la ha consumido en pocas semanas”, ha escrito Manfredi, quien ha detallado, según recoge Europa Press, que supo de la noticia a través de un mensaje de la hija de Gispert.
Gispert estudió Ciencias de la Información en la Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona y a principios de los 80 empezó a trabajar en la sección de informativos de TVE de Cataluña. Ya en Madrid, tres años después presentó el magazine La tarde, desde 1983 hasta 1989. También trabajó en el programa Buscados con cargo, una serie de actualidad sobre sucesos y delitos sin resolver.
La periodista, que tenía previsto jubilarse al cumplir 67 años el próximo 18 de noviembre, estuvo en otros medios como TV3 o en Canal Sur, donde fue corresponsal en Cataluña para la autonómica andaluza.
Gispert, además, escribió libros sobre cocina plasmando recetas de su familia y sus abuelas bajo los títulos Cocina en menos de tres horas para toda la semana, Fiambreras y Aquí no se tira nada.

Gispert, que iba a jubilarse el 18 de noviembre, al cumplir 67 años, comenzó a trabajar en diversos diarios y revistas, antes de saltar a la radio y a finales de la década de los ochenta inició su carrera en TVE, donde presentó programas como “La tarde” o “Buscados con cargo”.
También desempeñó diversas tareas periodísticas para Canal Sur y TV3, además de publicar varios libros de cocina, y trabajó asimismo para Cáritas.
