Jewelry designer Lynn Ban, who starred in the Netflix reality series “Bling Empire: New York,” has died weeks after undergoing emergency brain surgery following a skiing accident, her son announced Wednesday.
“He always had a smile on his face whenever the tough times came during his recovery process,” his son, Sebastian, wrote on Instagram. “She was a fighter to the end and the strongest woman I know.”
Ban said last month that she was on vacation with her family in Aspen when she collapsed while skiing on Christmas Eve. He was initially cleared by the ski patrol, but wrote on social media that he started having headaches later that day.
A paramedic suggested he get a CAT scan, which revealed bleeding in his brain.
Her son did not give a cause of death, but said she died Monday and wanted fans to know. The post announcing his death included a series of photos of the Ban family with a written tribute from Ban’s son.
“As a final message to my mom, I would just like to say that I will miss you forever and end with what she always said to me, ‘I love you,'” he wrote. I love more than my life’.
“Bling Empire: New York” was a spin-off of the popular Netflix reality series “Bling Empire,” which followed a group of wealthy Asian-American socialites living in Los Angeles.
The spin-off retained the same premise, but for those living in New York City.
Another “Bling Empire: New York” star, Dorothy Wong, wrote a comment saying Ban gets lit up whenever he talks about his son.
“Yes she loved her fashion and her looks, but what really mattered most to her was always you and your father, her clan,” Wang said. “We are all heartbroken.”

Rihanna said in the comments of the Instagram post that she was in disbelief.
“That’s too much!!!” Rihanna wrote from her verified account. “Lynn you will always be our fairy godmother! Love you forever and ever!”
Actor Robert De Niro’s adopted daughter, Drena De Niro, offered condolences to both Ban’s son and husband. She wrote that she “absolutely adores” Ban.
“She was an amazing, wildly talented, generous, warm and beautiful person inside and out,” De Niro wrote. “My son Leo loved her and her jewelry.”
