On Tuesday, the Lower House of Parliament approved members of Parliament’s salaries and allowances (Amendment) Bill 2025 – which is already approved by the Senate – with a majority vote, the salaries of parliamentarians increased.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif last month approved a major increase for parliamentarians.
As a result, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Ayaz Sadiq, informed the increase, following the approval of the Prime Minister.
Jamaat -e -Islami (G) Amir Hafiz Nimor Rehman strongly criticized the approval of the massive increase in the salaries of the parliamentarians, calling it “fraudulent with the people among the economic difficulties.”
The Finance Committee of the National Assembly, headed by NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, approved the proposed hike in the monthly salary of every MNA and Senator. Earlier, the lawmakers received a monthly salary of Rs 180,000.
