NASA SMD Is Merging All FACA Advisory Committees Into One

Keith’s note: According to “Update NASA Science Advisory Committees”: “On February 19, 2025, the President, while launching a decline in Federal Bureaucracy, issued the Executive Order 14217, which has determined the federal government’s policy of eliminating the federal government to reduce the size of the federal government to reduce inflation and promote US independence and innovation, to reduce inflation and innovation. NASA Science Mission Directorate: Astro -physics, biological and physical sciences, Earth Science, helicopteries, and the science of the five science divisions within the science of the planets maintain a consultation committee for each of the five science divisions. These committees, which are arbitrary and not needed by the Constitution, have supported NASA’s achievement of its science goals.

In response to the Executive Order 14217, NASA’s acting administrator, Janet Petro, has directed NASA to integrate these five committees into the same consultation committee with extensive representation with the NASA science community. The reorganization will provide an unstable science committee with the opportunity to maintain and ensure the continued support of the NASA science goals-improve performance, while NASA will ensure the main process of engaging with the science community.

NASA’s Science Mission is in the process of determining the best structure, scale and scope for the Directorate Committee. The Directorate is committed to ensuring representation from all areas of the Directorate of Directorate.

The Science Mission Directorate is determined to engage with the science community in various ways – both formal and informal.
