The city, which is a federally -controlled area, has been administered by the AAP since 2013, voters have supported its strong record of welfare. But recently the party has been involved in allegations of corruption – which they have denied.
For the BJP, securing Delhi represents more than electoral success – it will identify an important step in the country’s capital.
The party, which has achieved the recent election success in other states, such as Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, participated in the Delhi campaign with Modi as well as Home Minister Amit Shah.
Meanwhile, most of the exit pools, which are asked questions from the seat of voters after leaving the polling booth, predict less than 35 seats for the AAP.
The Congress, the central opposition party at the national level, is also in the race, but the polls indicate a dark point of view.
The party ruled Delhi from 1998 to 2013, but was expelled on charges of corruption, which instead of voters turned into AAP. Since then it has failed to make this mark.
However, analysts have warned that the exit polls issued by various news agencies have been often wrong in the past and are not neutral.
