Former American House member Mia Prem Utah, who is the daughter of Haiti immigrants who became the first black Republican woman to be elected to the Congress, died on Sunday.
She was 49 years old.
The family of love published the news of his death on the X account of love.
He had recently treated about mental cancer and received immunotherapy as part of a clinical trial at the Brian Tumor Center at Duke University. His daughter said earlier this month that the former lawmaker was no longer responding to treatment.
According to a statement published by the family, love died in his home in the Siratuga Springs in Utah.
His family said, “With the heartfelt hearts full of MIA’s deep influence on our lives, we want you to know that they have died peacefully.”
The governor of Utah, Spencer Cox, cited love as a “true friend” and said that the legacy of his service impressed all those who knew it.
After winning a seat in the City Council in Saltiga Springs, Love enrolled in politics in 2003, a growing community about 30 30 miles (48 km) south of Salt Lake City. She later became the mayor of the city.
In 2012, Love lost a bid for the House against the former representative Jim Mathews in a district, which covers a wire in the suburbs of Salt Lake City. He fled again two years later and defeated the first candidate, Doug Owns, by about 7,500 votes.
Love did not emphasize his race during his campaigns, but he recognized the importance of his elections after the 2014 victory. He said his victory denied the Naseears, who suggested that a black, Republican, Mormon woman could not win the Congress seat in the strong white Utah.
He was briefly considered an emerging star within the GOP and maintained his distance from Donald Trump, who was unpopular with many Utah voters during his first run for his first presidency in 2016.

He said that his career in politics exposed the love of the ugly aspect of the United States, but he also gave him the next row to be impressed by the hope and courage of the people. He shared his desire to focus on the neighbors and focus on their similarities rather than their differences.
Love wrote, “Finally, I hope it makes a difference in my life and the nation I love and the Family I love it.”
In 2016, while the 2005 recording was released, while successfully contesting re -election, Trump made pornographic comments about wandering women, Love left the Republican National Convention and issued a statement saying that she would not vote for Trump. Instead, he endorsed US Senator Ted Cruz in the Republican presidential primary, but he ended months later.
She lost to Salt Lake City Mayor Ben Mc Adams in 2018.
At a news conference in the morning after Trump lost, Trump expressed his love, where he also defeated another Republican who did not fully embrace him.
“Mia love has given me no love, and she lost,” Trump said. “Very bad. Sorry about it, Mia.”
Following the loss, Love served as a political commentator on CNN and as a colleague at the University of Sydney.
