A British man who planned a domestic bombing at a airplane base in northern England, was sentenced to about 40 years in prison on Friday, using fireworks.
The convicted judge said 29 -year -old Mohammad Farooq was influenced by the Islamic State and was conducted online.
Was Farooq Found guilty Following the trial in Sheffield Crown Court, preparation for terrorist acts last July. He proved the crime before an explosive matter with the intention of jeopardizing life and other crimes after being arrested outside the St. James Hospital in Leeds in January 2023.
Farooq was arrested by the police at the hospital, where he had previously worked as a student nurse, which had a domestic bomb, which had about 10kg of explosives from the fireworks.
Judge Bobby Chima-Gerb said that Farooq had actually targeted a royal air force in North Yorkshire, RAF Main Vietnam Hill, which also uses US forces.
He said, “But after realizing that you would be impossible to get into a position to explode your device more closely than the well -protected limit, you turned Tech into a soft target.”
Farooq was imprisoned for at least 37 years before he could be considered on parole.
“Farooq came close to harming innocent people,” said Paul Greenwood, superintendent of the Anti -Terrorism Police.
