According to a Family Post on Facebook, Louisiana, one of the most respected and successful coach in the history of Louisiana, passed away on Sunday morning.
Franklin, a sports hall of Louisiana, coaching 11 LHSA State Championships and four runner -up campaigns during his 35 -year career at Clebourne Parish, coaching Hans Will Golden Tornado.
Jeff Franklin posted, “Early this morning, Franklin’s family suffered a huge ground loss when coach Alton” Red “Franklin left his ground house and moved to his heavenly house.
Franklin published an overall record of 366-76-8 in Hansville and was nominated 23 times a district coach. In 7 seasons during 1990-96, his football teams were 96-4 and the state was the most frightened in the state.
“Coach Franklin’s legacy is deeply made in the history of our community’s fabric and Hansville High School’s football program.” “Our hearts suffer from the family during deep sorrow, and we increase our heartfelt condolences and cooperation.”
Franklin, a resident of Hansville, played a season at Louisiana College, who now played a season at Louisiana Christian University to finish her college career. He was added to the LCA Hall of Fame in 1992, in 1991 Louisiana High School Athletic Association and Louisiana High School Coach Association Hall of Fame.
“The influence of Coach Franklin has gone beyond the football field, serving as a patron, a role model and a pillar of our community,” a spokesman for Hans Will said. “Their leadership, integrity and virtue will continue to impress us for years to come.”
After taking over the Taurus program in 1966, his teams were state champions in 1970, 1971, 1984, 1987, 1990, 1991, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1995 and 2000. He closed his career with 33 consecutive wins and 15 directly district titles in Hansville.
He coached eight unbeaten teams and 21 of his 35 teams entered the state playoffs.
According to the family, funeral services are pending for Franklin.
