LAHORE: Jamaat -e -Islami Hafiz Nimor Rehman on Friday (today) announced a nationwide protest on Friday (today) against the Israeli aggression in Gaza.
JI has also planned to march towards the US Embassy in Islamabad and US consulates in all four provincial capitals.
Addressing a press conference in Mansura on Thursday, he called on the PML-N, the PPP, and the PTI leaders to condemn US support for Israel and demanded the authorities to refrain from “peaceful” protests organized by JI, emphasizing this right.
He remarked, “The White House allows for demonstrations outside its premises, but in Pakistan, the slave US embassy in the United States is active in suppressing the demonstrations,” he added, adding that as long as there are such forces, Pakistan cannot be considered free.
Consulates are also planned to march at the US Embassy
Rehman highlighted the worst humanitarian crisis in Gaza, saying: “The International Court of Justice has declared these measures as genocide, yet the United States is shamelessly standing with Israel. Donald Trump is openly demanding the Gaza population.”
Expressing disappointment over the silence of Muslim leaders, he noted that when platforms are being provided for dialogue between Russia and Ukraine, the governments of Islamic countries are indifferent to one of the most impressive humanitarians.
He said, “The entire Muslim Ummah has looked at Pakistan for leadership. As a nuclear power, with a professional army, Pakistan should have played an active role in resolving the Palestinian issue. The OIC has not reduced the resolutions.”
He highlighted JI’s efforts over the past 18 months to raise awareness about the crisis nationally and internationally.
He said, “After Friday’s prayers, rallies will be held in all major and small cities. The central march in Lahore will start from Shohada. I urge the whole nation to participate in these protests,” he said, demanded that both rulers and opposition parties join the demonstration.
Referring to media reports, he warned against any attempt to normalize relations with Israel.
