It seemed as if the president needed a little assurance.
He was in the White House’s eastern room, full of children from Florida, Texas, Virginia, Indiana, Ohio and Iowa, full of conservative workers, influential and six Republican governors. Everything came to sign an executive order to bite the Department of Education, some conservatives have dreamed of doing so for decades. No other president did this, even this is not the first time he was in office.
Now he had returned, and there was an order, sitting on a small table in front of this grand room, waiting for it to be signed.
There were many other small desks around the desk, the way you sit in a grade school. Children of different ages dressed in school uniforms kept swinging under their desk. He expected to see Mr. Trump as he approached.
He turned to a little boy and said, “Do I do it?” The boy shook his head unconsciously. The president wandered around and looked at a young girl. “Should I do this?” He asked. He also shook his head.
Encouraging, he sat down, pulled out his power pen and scratched. Governors and children and their parents clap.
In some way, Thursday’s executive order was on the brand for Mr Trump. Whether they are issuing files related to the murder of John F. Kennedy, the Kennedy Center’s board is proud of the appointment of its head, or to prepare the department, this president is proud of the work that none of the other will dare to do it.
But otherwise, the signing session was a strange, even as it had to admit. He lacked the punishment of the fire he usually brought in such matters.
He emphasized that what he was doing was not as radical as it seemed: “It seems strange, no? The education department. We are going to end it.”
In fact, only the Congress can eliminate the cabinet agency, but Mr Trump’s order primarily demanded the Department of Education to propose a plan to close itself.
He insisted that “everyone knows that this is true”, and he reminded the room that when the department was established, President Jimmy Carter in the same room in which Mr Trump was now destroying it, many Americans opposed the idea – even the “famous Democratic Senator” and Daniel Patrick.
Mr Trump recognized that he was taking his secretary Linda McMemon out of his job, which was probably a bit strange. “We’re going to find something else for you, okay?” He told her.
He often describes people who call the Federal Work Force a part of a shadow cable that is happy to be plagued everyone. This is not the case. “They are good people.”
“I just want to make a small personal statement,” Mr Trump said on one occasion. ” He said that teachers are among the most important people in the country and everyone should “like” them. On another occasion, he promised that the money for the Federal Yellow Grant is not going to be lost. He said, “It is understood that this is a very good program.
The seemingly interesting thing about Mr Trump’s work was that he was about to do so that everyone around him was so excited about it. The one who looked at the least passionate about what was happening was what he was making.
“I never thought that we would be able to reform any major education, let the Department of Education end,” said Terry Shilling, a 38 -year -old father and activist of Washington, a suburb of Washington. He was there with his red -haired wife and six of his seven children. “This is a beautiful day,” he said bouncing a boy named on the shoulder, “and I’m very happy to come here.”
Chia Richake, such as a worker in the room, the creator of the influential labs of the Techtok account, and a group of mother rights, Tiffany Justice, who work hard to help Mr. Trump’s selection, was a Tiffany Justice, Tiffany Justice. That’s how they hope that Trump can be restored.
Penny Nance, president of women concerned for the United States, observed, “You have many Republican presidents promise to him.” Mr Trump did not have the courage to tear down the education department after being the last president.
What changed?
“She had four years to think about it and plan it,” Ms Nance said. “We all did clearly.”
