India captain Rohit heads off retirement rumours – Sport

The opener said after the team’s guidance in the Champions Trophy title in Dubai that India’s Captain Rohit Sharma has never had any plans to quit 50 overs at any time.

Rohit immediately led India to lead India’s second -over World Cup title in the West Indies last year. The Twenty20 was later left.

The speculation faced that the opener, which turned 38 years old next month, did the same after India defeated New Zealand in the 50 overs final on Sunday.

Although not asked about retirement plans, Rohit started speculation, ending the after -match press conference, “Another thing, I will not retire from this format, just to ensure that no rumors are moving forward.”

Sunday’s victory marked India’s second honor at the World Cricket Council’s World Tournament organized by the International Cricket Council.

Under Rohit, India defeated only one match in the final of the 50 overs World Cup final in 2023.

Like the T20 World Cup last year, India was unbeaten throughout the tournament and Rohit made his best for the finals when it broke the 76 -winning match in the low scoring match.

India’s Test and a one -day international captain said, “I know how important it is to make runs in the power play, because we saw in five games that after 10 overs, when the field spreads and the spinners come, it becomes very difficult (scoring).”

“It becomes a bit difficult because the pitch is already slow and we are second.”

Rohit, who scored hundreds of hundreds of records in a one-day World Cup in 2019-though India crashed in the semi-finals-the team’s success gave him more than a personal milestone.

“I supported a lot in the 2019 World Cup, but we didn’t win. It was not fun.

“Even if you make 30-40 runs and win the match, you get more satisfaction and happiness.”
