I thought I had come to know. I was deciding a tough head to buy a renewed M1 Macbook air with 16GB Ram for a new M4 price, for reasons I would explain in a moment.
But, ironically, the M1 version is so good that I think I’m at risk of sale and buying a shiny new M4 model…
I mean, I wrote it on the day of the M4 McBook Air launch.
If you are considering either your first model or an old Intel alternative to the MacBook Air purchase, this is a really good time to press the button.
Only I thought I would personally be safe, because there was really no business to buy a new Mac, which is mostly in the long run.
The story of two Max
For many years, I had two Max: a heavy -filled upgraded 17 -inch MacBook Pro, and about 11 -inch MacBook Air. The difference in size and weight was such that my MBP was basically a desktop device I took with me while traveling abroad – but more local mobile use. No. If I wanted to work in a coffee shop for an hour or two, it was the MBA I took with me. Both Max were valuable to me.
When the second gene of 12.9 -inch iPad came out, matters changed. With the magic keyboard, it became my new portable Mac replacement. On this occasion, MacBook Air is bound to a drawer, if my MBP ever works as an emergency backup work machine if my MBP is ever out of action. It has fulfilled this goal on a couple of occasions, when I need to repair a couple of generations of two generations of MacBook Pro.
When I received my M1 Max 16 -inch MacBook Pro, matters changed once again. It was smaller and light than the old Intel machines, so I picked myself up to use more of the coffee shop. It was one of the five reasons I rarely using my iPad more.
Since my MBA has only been used for a few days in every few years, there was no reason to replace it – it could continue in this role until he died. Sadly, that day came. I went to lend him to a friend, and he refused to boot up, and the diagnosis indicated that it would cost more than the price.
So I bought a M1 Macbook Air
I am quite skilled at the justification of buying a new gadget, but I didn’t think even when I could manage to justify the new M4 MacBook Air, it would do two tasks.
- Most drawers to be, if my MacBook Pro requires repair
- Occasionally Serving as a coffee shop machine when I don’t want to keep my MacBook Pro
Even despite such limited use, I was clearly not going to buy another Intel model, and there would be only a lubricant shield for M3M4. After that, the election came to M1 or M2. The moderate performance difference was not related to my needs, so it was really cost and design.
The theory, the design should have been supported by the M2 model, as it is quite updated in terms of both thickness and sight of Bezel. But in reality I Affection The shape of the wedge, and when Apple finished it, was sad. So I managed to select the fully -visible re -frybed M1 with a slightly slightly slightly slightly slightly slightly slightly slightly slightly a little bit a little bit a little bit of the M4 model.
Longe
Instead, a potential argument in favor of buying M4 models is a longevity. The theory, I will get 4-5 years more from the new model, and in principle, which is also reflected in any reinforcement value.
But seeing that I was happy with a 12 -year -old model, the longevity was not a much conviction for me. And I discovered when the sale market for MacBook Airs when shopping around it… is weird!
Given the full sales of eBay, there was very little logic for pricing. There were people on eBay who wanted Apple Silicon prices for Intel machines And get them! What makes a difference more than the generation was the quality of cosmetic condition and photographs. My view is that a large piece of market consists of people who just know that they want the worst “MacLeptop” and “a MacBook Air”. For many people, age and sunglasses do not really come into it.
So from a reinforced perspective, longevity is a weak argument for buying new.
It is a fact that the machine in which I look new and also feels new to use. I have tested all my key apps, and even the final cut pro runs easily while the machine is completely cool for contact.
But there is a weird issue
The machine is very good!
The next day after it arrived, I hung an hour or more at a coffee shop between a meeting and a social gate. These are the conditions where I usually slip my member and keyboard into my bag to make some writings, but this time I replaced McBook Air. It is fit in the same size pocket in the same bag, and actually the iPad+keyboard was lighter than the combination.
On the way there, on the tube, I pulled it out and wrote some part of an article. It felt So Great to use than the iPad. At the same time when I was writing in a coffee shop. So now I am wondering if it can become a much more active machine that I actually imagined. If that happens, then it can potentially justify a major cost.
Performance difference is irrelevant to my mobile use?
Some of the features mean very little for me or nothing. A very large screen, which has 25 % more brightness – mea. The difference between size and weight is very small. Local audio irrelevant to see my use.
On the other hand, there are some features that I will at least appreciate. A better camera and sound isolation with MICs, both have good features for video calls. Magsaf is appealing, and charging fast is a good job. And while longevity is not an element of a product that I will only use occasionally, but when I am using regularly, I cost the latest version of Macos.
As far as the design is concerned, it is very wash. The little little little a little little little little little little little was small a little little little little little, small little little little little a little little little little little little, small little little little a little little little little little little little.
I know that no one believes me when I say this, but I haven’t made my mind yet. And when the shakes certainly have data from them, I would like to indicate that Many Examples of my examples either before returning Apple’s product, or fully resisting it. The first general 12.9 -inch iPad Pro, Vision Pro… ah… okay, i want to indicate Couple Examples of my resistance.
Make your bet.
