Hundreds of Rockford area middle, high school students compete in science olympiad

Rockford, sick.

Students participated in events in various fields of Regional Science Olympiad, including experimental design, environmental chemistry and coding.

The organizers said the competition has been going on for almost four decades across the country. It started with a group of science teachers and has now joined a competitive program.

“It is really important that I give teachers a lot of reputation because they spend a lot of time to create love for science and engineering among their students. This is really important for the next generation,” said Elizabeth Russia, a professor of Rock Valley College Science.

The winners go ahead with the state competition at Illinois University next month.
