Google’s Gemini Assistant Most phones will formally replace the company’s classic Google Assistant on this year. Google announced a change in A Blog Post Friday, which will include devices like tablets, headphones and watches that use Google Assistant.
Many Android phones are offering a choice between the two, which Google says will eventually be sunset when Gemini becomes a default assistant on mobile. Brian Markord, senior director of product management for the Gemini app, said that as the devices are changed, it would include removing the original Google Assistant as a download app.
“In the coming months, we are upgrading more and more users on mobile devices in Google Assistant from Google Assistant, and later this year, Google’s classic assistant will no longer be accessible on most mobile devices or will not be available for new downloads on mobile app stores.”
