Full activation of Rawalpindi’s Sihala slaughterhouse ordered – Pakistan

RAWALPINDI: The district administration on Friday directed the Slaughter House to be fully activated in Sehla to discourage the slaughter of animals on the roads and roads and ensure standard meat for consumers.

Due to the indifference by the administration, the long slaughter of animals in Garrison City has been undergoing unhealthy slaughtering.

There are two above mentioned in the city: Leh Nalah and on the Railway Road near Sihala. The Slaughter House in Sahala was established for the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. However, authorities have failed to force the butchers to slaughter their animals.

Under the Punjab Food Act, a veterinary doctor is banned from slaughtering animals without testing.

But butchers are selling mutton and beef without the verification of veterinary doctors. They do not take their animals to the Slaughterhouses to avoid paying fees.

However, after years of break, a meeting of the Met Board and Slaughter House members was held on Friday, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema. The meeting discussed measures to ensure the quality of meat in Rawalpindi and prevent illegal slaughter of animals.

The meeting was told that an average of 250 250 animals are slaughtered daily in the Salah Slaughterhouse. Participants offered suggestions to develop integrated strategies to improve the quality of the meat and eliminate illegal slaughter.

The deputy commissioner said that no compromise will be made on the quality of the meat. He said that the illegal slaughter of animals must be discouraged, strict legal action will be taken against those involved.

He directed the concerned agencies to effectively monitor the slaughterhouses and ensure full implementation of the principles of cleaning.

Slaughterhouses should be run by specialist staff and detailed health of all animals should be examined, he said.

Representatives of the cattle department told the meeting that they were taking necessary steps to improve the quality of the meat. It was also decided in the meeting that a daily report on Slaughterhouses would be ready to ensure full transparency.

The Deputy Commissioner said that every possible step will be taken to ensure the supply of quality and healthy meat to the citizens. He appealed to the public to assist in reporting the illegal slaughter of animals.

When contacted, President Jamiatol Qureshi, Khurshid Qureshi said that the butchers of Islamabad had demanded a separate slaughterhouse and was prepared by PC-I Nespak in this regard but CDA I-11 /4 was reluctant to start work on it.

“We have not been using Eatwire in Sehla for the past 40 years because it is far from Islamabad,” he said. Only some of Rawalpindi’s butchers are using it. Most butchers in Rawalpindi also avoided going there due to lack of facilities and increased transportation allegations.

Mr Qureshi said that more than 800 large animals are slaughtered daily in Rawalpindi, but only 200 of them were taken to the Seyala Slaughter House. The rest of the animals are slaughtered in the inner cities.
