The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued several recalls last week, including more than 270,000 Ford Broncos and Mavericks over a potential battery problem.

Ford misses the Broncos and Mavericks
Ford is recalling some 2021-2023 Bronco Sport and 2022-2023 Maverick vehicles because 12-volt batteries made by Chinese battery company Camel may experience degradation while driving.
“(12-volt) batteries may experience internal weld and/or cast-on strap failures, which may cause sudden battery discharge while driving,” The recall report said. “If the battery suddenly becomes low during a drive it can lead to a vehicle that is unable to restart after an auto stop/start event or may experience a stall while coming to a stop at low speeds.”
Dealers are instructed to inspect and replace the 12-volt battery, if necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be sent on February 3, 2025.

Ford is recalling the Broncos for a shock absorber problem

NHTSA says the recalled vehicles blank the touchscreen in the center console when the vehicle is started, resulting in the rearview camera image not being displayed. This failure causes the vehicle to fall out of compliance with federal motor vehicle safety standards.
Dealers will update the touchscreen software, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be sent on March 14.

Jaguar recalled some XEs for cam problems
Jaguar has extended a recall for 2019-2020 Jaguar XEs due to potentially faulty wiring in the trunk that prevented the car’s rearview camera from displaying.
The vehicles were built at the Castle Bromwich Vehicle Assembly Plant between June 18, 2018 and September 10, 2020. According to Yad’s report.
Dealers will inspect and repair, or replace the rearview camera wiring control, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be sent on March 14.
