Al-Rashid Street, Gaza City, Palestine- There are many stories among tens of thousands of people who are heading north along Al -Mashid Street in Gaza.
There is a man in the crowd that runs a white beard that runs with his family. In one hand, he takes a blanket and some modest goods. In the second, he holds his adult son, who has a down syndrome.
Rafat Joda does not show that he is not tired. He started his morning journey in southern Gaza, Khan Yunus, where his family was displaced for 15 months during Israel’s war against Gaza.
Its purpose was to reach Gaza city, this journey is eventually possible because Israel allowed Palestinians to travel north on Monday in the southern Gaza Strip, after the ceasefire began on January 19.
But this is a long walk – 30 km along a coastal road (18.6 miles) – and the family of Refits were forced to rest every hour.
“The journey has been tired and very difficult after Al Jazeera finally arrived in Gaza.” “Nevertheless, we were determined to come back.”
Rafut is no longer sure of his plan that he has returned home. His physical home, in the northern Gaza city, is no longer present – he explains that he was destroyed in the Israeli attack in October.
“He [Rifaat’s contacts in Gaza City] They say that the situation is very difficult, without water, no services and widespread destruction, “says Raifat.” But what does it matter? We are moving toward even more difficult than a difficult situation. We will rebuild what we can. [making the journey to return] The back raised our souls and renewed our hope.
To be remorseful
Before the war began 15 months ago, the majority of Gaza lived in the north, which was around the Enclave’s largest urban area, Gaza. But in the same place, Israel has focused on its attacks, and has initially issued evacuation orders in the war, and has asked people to go to the “safe zone” in Central and southern Gaza.
As a result, the majority of Gaza were displaced in the central and southern regions, which is under a transit from Central Gaza, which Israel called Natzium.
While this catastrophe was too high in the north – about 74 % of the buildings of the city of Gaza were damaged or destroyed in the war – the safe zone was not understood, and the areas where people escaped. Destroyed – 50 % of buildings in the central Gaza were damaged or destroyed, while in southern Gaza, it was 55 % of the buildings in Khan Younis and 48 % of the buildings in Rafah.
Continuous Israeli attacks – which killed at least 47,300 during the entire war – forced Palestinians to flee from place to place and made many realize that they should never leave the Gaza City and the North first place. It was
“The days of homelessness were the most difficult and most tired,” says Rifat. “We can’t even imagine keeping our lives as homeless people away from our homes.”
He added, “Whoever looks at these crowds well understands that no forced migration plan will be successful, no matter what,” he suggests that they suggest that they are in the north of Gaza but now A city in Israel will return to Ashdod. The Palestinians called the Palestinians nourished or “destructive” with the creation of Israel, during which their family was forcibly displaced in 1948.
Delivery is a central purpose for Palestinians. At least 750,000 Palestinians were forced home due to the 1948 nook. Many people themselves in Gaza are refugees, their families are actually from cities and villages that are now in a part of Israel. And so, especially after the current Gaza war, many regrets have ever left their homes in the north.
Sami al -Dabbag, 39, who returned to Sheikh Radwan in northern Gaza, explained that he was displaced in several different areas before settling in central Gaza. The father’s father said for hours, saying that he would never make the same mistake again.
“We will ever repeat the experience of being homeless, no matter what.”
This is an emotion that another person has traveled to northern Gaza, Radwan al -Jawal.
He says, “Being homeless has never been taught us to leave home,” he says, when he picks up his luggage on his shoulder.
The 45 -year -old father, an eight -year -old, has been based in Dir al -Bala, but like al -Dhabagh, he is also from Sheikh Radwan.
He says, “The feeling of returning is undeniable, especially since conditions are not different between the north and the south.”
Family members are looting without
Talks on Al -Rashid Street are frequently going on. More than a year of war and migration.
But shared details show the damage to Palestinians in Gaza.
Khalid Ibrahim Khan, 52, came from Younis and is on his way to Bait Lahia, north of Gaza city.
His family – he has four children – he has no home to go back. Instead, he intends to put a tent.
But more than a house, he has lost his closest people. Last June, Ibrahim’s wife, granddaughter and his two brothers were killed in a bomb blast near his tent in Khan Younis last June.
“Our life is difficult. Ibrahim says that we have lost everything in every way.
Another returning, Nadha Johju, has also lost the family. In 2018, one of his sons was killed in Gaza’s Great March of Return of returns. Another Israeli attack was killed in May. Now he has a son and a grandson – whom he takes on the walk.
“We are physically and mentally tired.” I feel very sad to return without my sons. My happiness is incomplete.
