EU to impose counter tariffs worth $28 billion on US goods – World

The European Commission on Wednesday increased the global trade war in response to US revenue on steel and aluminum, saying that the European Union will impose a counter tariff worth 26 billion euros ($ 28 billion) of US goods from next month.

The price of US President Donald Trump’s increase of 25 % on all steel and aluminum imports on Wednesday implemented the previous exemption, duty -free quota and product costs.

The European Commission said it would eliminate the current tariff suspension on US products on April 1, and by mid -April, a new package of counter -measures on US goods.

Suspended revenue is applied to products from boats to bourbon to motorbikes, and the European Union said it will now begin two weeks of consultation to select other categories of products.

The European Union said these new measures will target about 18 billion euros in goods, with the overall purpose to ensure that the total cost of EU measures is equivalent to a rising cost of new US revenue -affected trade.

The proposed target products include industrial and agricultural products, such as steel and aluminum, textile, household appliances, plastics, poultry, beef, eggs, milk, sugar and vegetables.

“Our response measures will be introduced in two stages. The President of the European Commission, Ursola Van Der Leene, said in a statement, starting with April 1 and starting completely till April 13.

“We’re ready to engage in meaningful dialogue. Van Dare Leene added that I have entrusted Trade Commissioner Maros Safkoch to resume my conversation to find a better solution with the United States.
