Addressing a gathering of thousands of supporters in the eastern city of Halla, Musk said his party was “the best hope for the future of Germany”.
Musk has expressed concern over some mainstream leaders who have accused him of interfering in European politics with comments on his social platform X on politicians from countries, including Germany and the United Kingdom.
He also criticized this week for pointing to a public hand, which some people saw directly as a resemblance to armed Nazi salute.
“The German people are really an ancient nation that is thousands of years old,” he said in a weekly address. “I even read that Julius Caesar was very impressed with the German tribes,” he urged supporters to “fight, fight, fight for the future of their country.”
He said that AFD “wants more self -determination for Germany and European countries and less than Brussels” is a reference to EU officials.
Musk is a close associate of US President Donald Trump, who has appointed him the head of a new “government performance” area in his administration.
