The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Thursday approved amendments to the existing net metering rules to reduce the growing financial burden on grid consumers and reduced the back tariff to Rs 10 per unit.
At a meeting with the International Monetary Fund last week, the government told the fund about plans to raise the funds from Rs 26/unit to Rs 10, which raises concerns about the impact on consumers on the off -grid solution.
According to a press release issued by the Finance Division, the ECC reviewed the purchase rate from the national average electricity purchase price (NAPP) at Rs 10 per unit, according to a press release. App Notified.
It states that the committee has approved the proposal – subject to cabinet approval – so that the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) will be allowed from time to time to revise this backed back rate, ensuring that the framework is flexible with the framework.
According to AppAfter the decision taken, the rising effects of solar net metering on the national power grid were widely discussed.
The Power Division highlighted the need for regulatory adjustment pressure, citing a record reduction in solar panel prices, which increased the number of solar net metering users rapidly.
However, the press release clarified that the revised framework will not apply to current net -meter users NEPRA (Alternative and Renewable Energy) Distribution Generation and Net Metering Regulations, 2015, the correct license, coincidence, or existing net -meter users with a contract.
Any such contract will remain effective until the license or contract expires, whatever happened earlier, ensuring consumer rights and responsibilities, including unanimous rates, including current conditions.
The ECC also approved the refreshment of the settlement procedure, App Notified.
Under the new structure, imported and exported units will be treated separately for billing purposes.
The exported units will be purchased at a revised by -back rate of 10/unit, while the import units will be billed at the peak/off peak rates, including taxes and surcharges during the monthly billing cycle.
The ECC also gave the Power Division the authority to issue guidelines for cabinet verification to the applicable regulatory framework, ensuring clear and consistency in the implementation of these amendments.
The ECC meeting chaired by Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb was accompanied by Minister for Energy (Power Division) Sardar Awas Ahmad Khan Legree, Minister for Maritime Affairs Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh and Petroleum Ali Pervez Malik, as well as federal secretaries and senior secretaries of the respective ministers and divisions.
