East Baton Rouge Parish Library welcomes readers to explore sports and mentorship with One Book One Community 2025 selection | Sponsored: East Baton Rouge Parish Library

Readers of all ages have been invited to participate in the East Batten Rog Parish Library 19Third Annual A book One Community The initiative between March and April.

This year is the selected title Life Season: A football star, a boy, a masculine journey By Jeffrey Marx. In this book, the former Defense Star of Baltimore Colts, which is after Ehraman’s coaching trip, as he guides Gulman High School Football Team with the lessons of love, kindness and services for others.

“This book contains lessons and topics that can be related to everyone,” said Mikey Talbot. “In the past few years, we have chosen books that we think our community will be the most interested. We have chosen outside Louisiana and about nature, blues music and food history. This year, we have decided that the time has come for football because we realized that it was an important sentiment of our community that we had not yet taken through this move. We also believe that the guidance and upbringing of our youth is really important, and there are some great lessons about it in this book.

A basic reason A book One Community For almost two decades, Baton has been so famous in Rouge that it collects readers from all walks of life and introduces many people to books they have not chosen.

“I have definitely heard people say that some of the books we have chosen have become their favorite,” Talbot said. “It is also nice to know that many people read it in a group with their fellow workers, friends or family. This is not just about reading the book. It is also about creating deep conversation opportunities on the theme of the book and what it has to do with their own life.

Helping to simplify these debates and the surroundings A book One CommunityEBRPL will host a number of public programs during March and April. Some of these incidents include:

  • Talegate Kick of the Party, Friday, March 14, 5pm to 8pm, Main Library in Goodwood
  • Ronnie Rentas: Game in my life, Wednesday, March 19, 6pm, Main Library in Goodwood
  • Talegate Directive exchange, Saturday, March 29, 3pm, Eden Park Branch Library
  • Color and Meditation, Saturday, April 12, 2pm, Fairwood Branch Library
  • Author Jeffrey Marx, Sunday 27 April, from 3pm to 5pm, Main Library in Goodwood

In addition, numerous football -based craft activities for children and adolescents will be in various EBRPL branches, including pants, laser cut paint football, bookmarks and more.

Allison Gyaniloni, EBRPL Community Programming Librarians said a list of the recommended books with relevant themes is available www.radonebook.org. The library has also developed digital resources for people who want to find deep content about sports, teamwork or teachers.

“Through your library card, you can access Hyclass, a digital sports encyclopedia that includes videos and tutorials, including yoga, football, tennis, dance and more,” he said. “We also have sports and exercise magazines that are available for personal and online checkouts. LinkedIn learning presents a series of thirty minutes of videos called teachers where successful people share stories about teachers. We have a lot of resources available to the public, and they have a specific way for people.
