Driver in crash that killed Vikings rookie Khyree Jackson charged with DUI, vehicular manslaughter

A Maryland woman was arrested and charged with 13 counts of negligent vehicular manslaughter, reckless endangerment and driving under the influence of Minnesota Vikings rookie cornerback Khoury Jackson. And two others died.

Corey Klingman was charged after he allegedly caused a three-car crash in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Klingman and two other passengers in his vehicle were not injured, state police said in a July news release.

According to police, Clingman, of Upper Marlboro, attempted to change lanes and collided with a maroon Dodge Charger before hitting the Chevrolet Impala. The force of the crash caused the Charger to travel off the road and hit multiple tree stumps before coming to a stop.

Jackson, 24, was in the front passenger seat of the Charger and died at the scene, police said. 23-year-old Isaiah Hazel, the driver, was also pronounced dead at the scene. A third man, 24-year-old Anthony Layton, was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries.

The driver of the Impala was uninjured and refused medical treatment at the scene.

Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Brewboy said the crash took the lives of “three amazing young men.”

“Each of his lives was special, important and a tragic loss to his family and our community,” he said at a news conference Thursday announcing Klingman’s arrest.

Clingman faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted, Brewboy said. Online court records do not list an attorney for Klingman.

Jackson was the starting cornerback at the University of Oregon and the Vikings’ fourth-round pick in the NFL draft. He attended Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr. High School with Hazel and Layton. Social media post said the school’s athletic department. Brewboy said he believed Clingman had attended high school with him and that “they had all known each other for a long time.”
