Convicted murderer becomes Louisiana’s first nitrogen gas execution

On Tuesday, a prisoner of Louisiana’s death row was hanged with nitrogen gas, a way that had never been used in the state before.

The death of nitrogen gas is currently allowed in only four states in only four states, including Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi and Oklahoma. However, this method is used only in Alabama.

According to the AP, in recent decades, the number of executions at the national level has decreased sharply, which has led to the majority of the states either ending or preventing the death penalty.
