China, Pakistan both focused on KKH, ML-1 completion: Chinese consul general – Pakistan

Chinese Consul General Yang Yondong said on Friday that both China and Pakistan are focused on the completion of the Karakoram Highway (KKH) and Main Line 1 (ML -1) project.

Pakistan has had strong bilateral relations with China, which has supported it through many investment and development projects like China -Pakistan Economic Transit (CPEC), called the “lifeline” for the country’s economy.

In September last year, China agreed to assist Pakistan in completing four major projects in transport and communication sectors.

The two countries were ready to work together with the construction of ML -1, M -6 and M -9 projects, as well as KHH’s second phase and Kagan Naran, Jhilkhand, Babusar Top and tunnel construction.

Yang said, “Yang said,” Both sides are working hard to complete these projects. “

“The new international airport in Gwadar, which was completed only last year, will also play an important role in opening more opportunities,” he added, “Both China and Pakistan are encouraging more ships to use Gwadar port for trade.”

The ‘two sessions’ called an annual program important for China’s economic and social development. Yang revealed that China achieved major goals and works set for the economic and social development of the year in 2024.

He said, “Chinese modernization has pursued significant new achievements, in which high quality growth is moving forward and new productive forces develop firmly.”

He added, “At the same time, China will continue to boost high quality opening in the outside world and promote the deep and basic development of the high quality shared construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.”

“These important initiatives will undoubtedly provide new opportunities for the world through new advancements in Chinese modernization.”

He added that with the Chinese features, the diplomatic diplomacy of the major country has opened the new horizon, and international cooperation has achieved fresh progress for China.

He added, “This year’s official work report emphasizes that China will follow a free and peaceful foreign policy, will be obliged to the path of peaceful development, and adhere to the open strategy of mutual gain and victory cooperation.”

“China is willing to work with countries around the world to work to advance the equivalent and organized multi -polar world and a global level of beneficial and comprehensive economic globalization, maintaining and implementing real multilateral, actively solving major global challenges, and providing new opportunities for the world.”

The Chinese official said that the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping’s historic visit to Pakistan was celebrated in 2025, adding that the two countries will celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations next year.

He said that China -Pakistan relations are on a turning point and opportunities for development.

He added, “Both countries and their people should take advantage of this opportunity to further enhance communication and harmony, deepen practical cooperation in various fields and upgrade the CPEC.

“Together, we will take strong steps towards modernization, accelerating the construction of a nearby community of China-Pakistan with a shared future in the new era, bringing more benefits to both people, and jointly create a more prosperous and stable future.”

ML One 1 Railway Line, from Karachi to Peshawar, is an important part of the CPEC. Both China and Pakistan renewed their commitment to advance the upgrade of the ML -1 line project in October 2024.

Earlier, Railway Minister Hanif Abbasi had said that if there is no international fund or partner, the government can fund the central line of ML One 1. His statement came at a time when the government and the Ministry of Railways were expecting a long wait for a high -powered technical team from China by the end of March.
