ISLAMABAD: Capital Police said on Saturday that it had uncovered a group of robbers and recovered looted goods worth Rs 35 million.
Deputy Inspector General of Islamabad (DIG) Syed Ali Raza announced the arrest of two members of an organized gang of Afghan nationals at a news conference at Rescue 15 office in Islamabad.
According to the police officer, the suspects were involved in armed robberies and robbery in houses.
“The robbers have been recovered from the possession of the accused, including gold jewelry, artificial jewelry, watches and other valuables worth more than Rs 35 million, with weapons used in crime,” he said.
DIG Raza said that unknown suspects entered the house and looted gold jewelry, cash, watches, artificial jewelry and other valuables at gunpoint.
A special police team was formed to investigate the matter, which, using technical resources and human intelligence, arrested both the accused.
Mr Raza appreciated the police team for his effective investigation and speeding and awarded him cash prizes.
He also highlighted efforts to capture those involved in abusive crimes such as murder by Islamabad police.
In addition, DIG Raza revealed that due to effective police investigation, the court sentenced the culprits involved in the robbery and murder case.
Rizwan Gohar, one of the culprits, was sentenced to death and a fine of Rs 600,000 while Kamal Ahmed was sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 500,000.
The incident, which took place in January 2024 and was registered in the Sanbal police station, was accused of killing Wasim Akram during a robbery.
The victim’s mother, who attended the press conference, thanked the Islamabad police for investigating and assisting her son for justice.
The DIG reaffirmed the commitment to ensure the safety and safety of the citizens of Islamabad police and continue their efforts to further reduce crime in the capital.
