This toll -to -essay is based on a 55 -year -old nurse and a conversation with Pearl Wammond, the mother of all three living in Montreal. He is one of the Canadians who boycotted US products due to President Donald Trump’s policies and Canada’s comments. Taxat And interest in making the country a US state. This story has been edited for length and explanation.

I’m always very proud of being Canada. I too have really enjoyed visiting the states.

But it seems that some of the US population have changed. I am felt hating Canada as if we were just baking the states or taking the United States. Americans felt our cousins in terms of nationality, but I don’t feel it anymore.

Now I see a group of national pride that we have never seen before, especially in Quebec, because Quebec is notorious as a black sheep in Canada. We are the ones who have a French -speaking majority, so if Quebec is quite angry to blow up a Canadian flag, something is really wrong.

I will not go to the border these days, and I’m trying to avoid buying American products.

I’m not safe to travel to the US

I am half Filipino and half Irish. I don’t look white. My husband is Mexican. I have three children, 25, 20, and 15, black. I am afraid to go to the states. I will be concerned about going down because of what I am hearing about snow and exile.

My husband has a permanent residence in Canada, but if he is separated from me in the United States, and I can’t speak on his behalf, I do not know that he can explain herself well to get out of a scenario. If there is a question of something like this, I will only be on my side of the border.

We’re just above the Vermont, an hour and a half, and we just went down to the grocery store. I went down regularly to see my friends in New Jersey and Boston. Just last summer, I took my girls to New York to see the “skis” on Broadway because my daughter is the theater baby.

We used to do this at the weekend, and my children liked it there. Our dollar has not been strong for a long time, but it was worthwhile for me to spend extra in return for this experience. No longer

I am boycotting American brands

Many people in Canada are trying to buy products made in Canada. These are all online groups promoting it. Some people are very, very hard, and they are not getting anything from the United States. Other people are doing what they can.

My husband used to call me Amazon Queen. I have not ordered anything from Amazon since February 5. I have canceled my prime membership. I’m not shopping in Walmart or McDonald’s.

In terms of food, it is very easy to get home production. I had a difficult difficulty in finding Brookly for a while. We still have US Strawberry at $ 1.99, who is living on the shelf. In my neighborhood, we are paying 99 4.99 to 99 6.99 for the Quebec Strawberry. People are willing to pay a higher price to buy from home.

Even my 15 -year -old, who is very politically active, and his friends are boycotting American products.

Many auxiliary Americans say, “We are with you. We’re trying to buy Canada. We understand how you feel about our government. What they are doing. They are not right. We should not threaten anyone with affiliation, leave Canada, who has always been our ally.”

But those who have the opposite opinion are very aggressive and very hateful, in fact. Nine out of 10 people may be friendly and amazing as they have always been, but it takes only one time, and that’s what frightens me.

I don’t want to lose a close relationship between Canada and the United States

I don’t know anyone here who wants to be the 51st state. We love our health care. We like our education. We like Canada. We grew up here. We are Canada. There is nothing against the United States, but we do not want to be absorbed.

We respect the Americans. We respect your anthem. We fight with you in every battle. We love your country as we always have. We are very sorry to see how some Americans are thinking about us now, and we are angry with your president to treat us.

Even if the problem of prices is over or if there is another president in four years, some Canadians are saying, “Once cut off, shy twice.” There are a lot of risks and a lot of threats. It feels like bullying, it feels dangerous, and as a country, we are not appreciating it.

And even if the other party is selected in four years, it can be the same in eight years. It has been done once, so it seems that we are now fair games.

I am feeling like the United States and Canada were great ally and great friends, and I don’t want to leave it. I don’t want to give up this hot, vague feeling that you have got our waist and we are yours. So, I guess we are waiting for how far it will go.
