Baloch Solidarity Committee (BEC) organized a large gathering in Balochistan’s Dalbandon area on Saturday, following reports of suspension of mobile networks in the area.
Officials have said Section 144 is in place in the region and administrators fear a possible crackdown on the program.
to talk DawnBalochistan government spokesperson Shahid Rand said that while it was a constitutional right of every citizen in Pakistan to assemble, BEC was staging the event despite the fact that Section 144 was in force in Balochistan. In this case, it is up to the local administration to allow the rally.
“In view of the security situation in the province and to prevent untoward incidents, the internet has been shut down in Dalbandon,” Rind said.
One of the organizers of the BEC, B Berg Bloch said Dawn.com Mobile services in Dalbandon, Chagai and Nushki have been suspended for three days today.
“Today, mobile service is completely suspended in Dalbandon, while there is no contact with convoys coming from Nushki,” the administrator said. “We think mobile service has been completely suspended in Nushki as well.”
BEC leader Dr. Mehrang Baloch addressed the crowd along with Dr. Sabiha Baloch, Shahji Sabgatullah, Sami Deen Baloch and other BEC personalities.
“We will not allow anyone to loot the mineral resources of Balochistan,” he said. “There will be no mega project without the will and intentions of the Baloch people.”
During his speech, he called on human rights organizations to take notice of “atrocities” in the province.
“Injustices have united the Baloch today,” he said.
