Brighton High School and Suttan Middle School Science Olympiad teams performed very well at the 2025 Science Olympiad Regionals held at East Lansing High School last weekend. His coach is done by an engineer and brighton parents Shanan Pereira, who has been the coaching of both groups for 12 years.
The Secretariat Group placed runner -up out of 18 schools just behind the Chica Middle School in Okimos. The winner, Okimos and the second place, was behind East Lansing, the third of the 21 high schools was the third at the versatic level. Finners at the 6th position in the first position in individual programs took domestic medals. Brighton also fielded two alternative teams at the high school level – called “black” and “white” teams, and an alternative team at the middle school level – “Black” team.
The only second school in Livingston County that set up a team was Hartland, which had a cadre of high school rivals, who ranked 10th.
After the meeting, Pereira told WHMI, “I am very proud of all my children,” he added, “He went ahead and beyond the competition.”
Both Brighton High and Secretaria Middle Schools qualified for the State Science Olympiad Tournament, which will be held on April 26.
