Blind date: ‘We went on two dates eight years ago – he didn’t want a third. That was an icebreaker’ | Life and style

Ben on Maxim

What were you expecting?
A recreational night to know a new person.

First impression?
I know you! We laugh and immediately. Hugs when we worked in the same building almost a decade ago and went on a date or two.

What did you talk about?
Last decade! I hope why things can’t work, which was enlightened for both of us, I hope. The conversation lasted for five hours without any late -up – we covered everything from family and Christmas to Paris and Istanbul.

The most strange moment?
In many things, this history made me realize that I am now weird than my 20s.

Question and answer

Like a blind history?

Show

Blind Dust Week is the dating column: Every week, two strangers are made a pair for dinner and drinks, and then the beans spread, answering a set of questions. It runs, with a photo that we take online at every week, before the date of every detergent (in the UK) and on Theguardian.com every week. It’s been running since 2009 – you can read everything about how we kept it here together.

What questions will I ask me?
We ask about age, position, occupation, hobbies, interests and the kind of person we want to meet. If you don’t think these questions cover everything you want to know about what you want to know about what is in your mind.

Can I choose with whom I match?
No, it’s a blind history! But we ask you a little about your interest, preferences, etc. – the more you tell us, the better the match will be.

Can I pick up the picture?
No, but don’t worry: We will choose the best people.

Will personal details appear?
Your first name, job and age.

How do I answer me?
Honestly but with respect. Keep in mind how it will read your history, and this blind history reaches large audiences, in print and online.

Will I see the other person’s answers?
No. We can edit you and for many reasons, including lengths, and we can ask you more details.

Will you get me one?
We’ll try! Marriage! Baby!

Can I do this in my hometown?
Only if it is in the UK. Many of our applicants live in London, but we would love to hear from people living elsewhere.

What were you expecting?
To meet the guy of my dreams – or at least enjoy the free meal.

No one – reliable conversations and eyes contact from the beginning to the end. It didn’t matter that we were the only dinner for the whole evening.

Good table manners?
